Assets Herbarium

More than 500 plant specimens of Agra that are identified and catalogued by Botanical Survey of India are preserved in herbarium & published in the “Flora of Agra” (BSI, Dehradun) by Dr. A.K.Sharma and Dr. J.S.Dhakre is available for reference.”The present work on the Flora of Agra District, Uttar Pradesh is one such study to assess the plant diversity in the area. The location of Agra district has been, since long, very significant from geographical, historical and strategic points of view. The flora deals with the description of the vegetation and its associated factors, taxonomic treatment of 609 taxa, each with notes on distribution, frequency, phenology, collector’s names, field numbers, uses etc. Efforts have been made to bring the nomenclature uptodate as per the present botanical code.

    (i.) To prepare proposal to seek approval/recognition from D.S.I.R., New Delhi to get custom duty exemption on import of costly and sophisticated instruments, chemicals like – Atomic Absorption spectrophotometer, Zeta sizer, Gas Chromatograph, Fourier transform infrared Spectrometer etc., directly through manufacturing companies by bank letter of credit (L.C.) mode of payment.
    (ii.) To apply under U.G.C.- instruments maintenance facility programme for seeking financial assistance for the maintenance of instruments and paying honorarium to technicians and other related staff.
    (iii.) To use the 70% overhead budget of the co-terminus projects in departmental development.
