The Krishi Vigyan Kendra is a district level Farm Science Centre established by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi at Awagarh Campus in District Etah of R.B.S.College, Agra for speedy transfer of technology to farmers’ fields. The operational area of this Krishi Vigyan Kendra comes under the South West Semi Arid Zone..

The aim of Krishi Vigyan Kendra is to reduce the time lag between generation of technology in research institutions and its transfer to the farmers’ field for increasing production, productivity and income from the agriculture and allied sectors on a sustained basis. In order to achieve this goal, four mandates have been envisaged in the design of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra.

Activities

1. On-farm testing to identify the location specifically of agricultural technologies under various farming systems.

2. To organize Frontline Demonstrations to establish production potential of technologies on the farmers’ fields.

3. Training to farmers/Farm Women to update their knowledge and skills in latest agricultural technologies.

4. Training to extension personnel to orient them in the frontier areas of technology development.

5. To work as resource and knowledge centre of agricultural technology for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving the agricultural economy of the district.

Services

The farmers or any person or organization can avail following services of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra : –

1. Participation in the Trainings : Interested farmers/Farm Women can register their names with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra either personally or through Phone Or E-Mail for the training they wishes to attend. Krishi Vigyan Kendra also arranges an off-campus training on desired topics at farmers’ villages. For such trainings minimum 25 farmers from the same village need to participate. Special trainings can also be arranged for organizations on topics of their choice.


2. Participation in Extension Activities : Farmers can participate in extension activities such as kisan melas, technological week, study tours, field days by prior registration.


3. Consultancy : Farmers may interact with the scientists at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra & get consultancy on issues related to agriculture, allied fields & information on advanced agricultural technologies.


4. Demonstrations and On Farm Trials : Farmers can participate in conducting demonstrations & trials on their fields arranged by Krishi Vigyan Kendra every year.


5. Availability of Infrastructure : Other organizations that wish to conduct trainings for the farmers at KVK campus can use our class rooms and audio visual aids on nominal charges.


6. Study Tours To KVK : Farmers on study tour can see our farm & demonstration units viz Nursery, Dairy & the Museum of Agri Implements. Farmers can stay in our hostels on nominal charges.


7. Soil and Water Testing : Farmers, institutions and organizations can get their soil and water samples tested for various parameters
